Un Hercio Antes Del Espectro Audible, Llueve (2020)

Papel Fabriano, papel Silueta, papel Bond. Composición sonora (4:00), subwoofer, amplificador. 39 x 600 cm

One Hertz Before The Audible Spectrum, It Rains
(2020)

Fabriano paper, Silhouette paper, Bond paper. Sound composition (4:00), subwoofer, amplifier. 39 x 600 cm

The audible spectrum of the human being ranges from 20 hertz to 20 thousand hertz. There are multiple sounds that are below the audible spectrum; sounds that, although we cannot hear them, produce resonance in our body. This sound installation emulates the resonance phenomenon through paper strips. A speaker reproduces the narration of the poem It rains silently by Fernando Pessoa in a range between 10 and 19 hertz, which is inaudible to the ear. The recording was transposed in speed and the low frequencies were elevated to their maximum amplitude, to achieve the movement of the membrane of the loudspeaker. The paper serves as a conductor of the waveform, which manage to amplify another sound: that of the trembling paper, remembrance of the silenced rain in Pessoa.
